Help Heal Humanity (HHH) is an international (Canada and USA) non-profit organization with a mandate to provide education and nourishment to some of the most “at risk” youth and children on our planet today. Specifically, we have focused our efforts in Canaan and Citi Soleil - Haiti, where over 4.5 million people go without electricity, running water, food, resources and absolutely no form of government support. HHH achieves its goals in part through the creation and implementation of a number of fundraising events including our annual Local Dinner Parties and Global Dining for Humanity Events, Art and Music for Humanity, Travel for Humanity, Yoga and Fitness for Humanity, as well as by partnering with other organizations to grow our awareness and purpose on the planet. Thus far, we have successfully built a school in Canaan Haiti that educates and empowers 121 primary students per day. Today we are looking for our newest director who will play the primary role in helping us establish our Food for humanity charitable goals.
A Content Writer is responsible for using the written word to share information about the Help Heal Humanity organization. An effective Content Writer is responsible for style and format consistency across all projects and communicates with other team members to create the best content possible.
Responsibilities include preparing document outlines, updating content based on edit requests and proofreading their work for tone, style, clarity, grammar and formatting. Write engaging, compelling long-form content that fulfills the requirements of the target audience. Provide well-researched written content through a variety of mediums, translating technical content into well-understood information utilizing our organizational tone of voice and writing style. Must be able to articulate the mission and vision of the HHH organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Completing writing projects, meeting deadlines, and following content requirements in terms of style and project specifications.
Revising content as necessary.
Helping create style guides or suggesting changes to ensure content is consistent and clear.
Define content needs for grants, and projects.
Conducting research on any given topic.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong communication and writing skills.
Knowledge of search engine optimization and keywords.
Adherence to and accurate application of style guide.
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines on a consistent basis.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
Hands-on experience with business or financial long form writing, including experience in an agency or in-house creative department.
Experience in reviewing copy, presenting concepts, and negotiating stakeholder feedback.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical and business subjects into engaging, understandable pieces.
Experience with writing across a variety of channels, in both print and digital formats.
Understanding of SEO tools and principles.
3-5 years of experience in developing long-form content for a variety of marketing channels.
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, English, Journalism, Marketing, Business or related field.
Experience developing content within the accounting and/or finance industry
This volunteer position requires a time commitment of eight to twelve hours monthly. This is an average and that time will vary depending on the planned events.
