In May 2018, I visited Haiti with Serena.  She guided my team through fitting children and families with necessities, walking through Cite Soleil and visiting those in a malnutrition clinic. Completely immersing myself in charitable work was exhausting for my mind, body and spirit, but also entirely fulfilling.  You feel your purpose as a human in a whole new way.
Samantha Nham —  Restaurant & Event planning
As an avid world traveler, I was pretty aware of the conditions in Haiti and was not a stranger to those scenes. It was very eye opening and heart breaking to many of the people who traveled with me, some who broke down in tears at the sight of their living conditions. Our visit to Haiti with Help Heal Humanity was especially heart wrenching, because we got to not only see the conditions up close but also got to meet the children who live there. Rather than a distanced meet and greet, we actually played with, danced with, hugged, and held the kids in the slums of Cite Soleil and in the town where we helped build the school. Being able to see the kids receive the clothing and gifts we brought was very special and something I'll never forget. They were so thankful for the things that most kids in America take for granted and barely appreciate. We made some unforgettable memories in Haiti painting the school that we helped raise money to finish building and had an amazing tour and history lesson of Haiti from the incredible Serena, a modern-day Mother Teresa. Overall, the best thing I took from our trip was that the people of Haiti remain energetic and happy regardless of limited opportunities they have and the disasters that have continuously attacked their island.

’The best way to find yourself is to find yourself in the service of others,’ said Gandhi. There are no words to express the deep gratitude I feel for Serena and the experience I had in Haiti. I've travelled near and far, experienced mission trips in other countries and Haiti has been a place that has left footprints on my heart forever. The opportunity to look in the eyes of these amazing children, experience the culture and to give back has been transformational for me. It has left me wanting to continue this mission to help heal humanity in ways I can only imagine. This by far will be a memory I will never forget and I can't wait to return to this sacred place. Thank you, Serena and Help Heal Humanity for giving me and others the most sacred gift any of us could ever receive, love.
Rowena Rodriguez — Personal Coach
My travel experience in Haiti was a combination of constant observation and learning, plus many different emotions, but ultimately, in the end it was very uplifting for the spirit. It brought sadness and anger at first, to see the severity of poverty first hand. It was the realization for me that having empathy was important, but showing compassion and strength to be able to make a difference no matter how big or little was what was so uplifting for me. Also, it was an escape from a materialistic world that so many of us privileged people live in. To see all the smiles, hear all the laughter, and feel all the love for the purest and simplest joys of life is humbling to say the least. Hopefully, this amazing experience is something that everyone can take with them to create a more positive and meaningful life for themselves and other.

My trip to Haiti with Serena is one I will never forget. The images I saw there will be forever ingrained in my memory. I had no idea the conditions the Haitians were having to try to survive in. Serena was able to bring us into peoples communities, homes and lives in a way no one else could do. You could see how the people of Haiti adore her and appreciate her and all she has done for them. It was beautiful to see amongst all of the ugliness surrounding these people. It was truly amazing to see the love, hope and strength of the Haitian people when they have every reason to feel none of those things. You could feel it in the hands of the children that just wanted to hold your hand as you walked through their village. The trip with Serena opened my heart and my eyes in ways I never expected. I cannot wait for the chance to return to Haiti with her again to help those very deserving communities and families.
